Revised on January 1, 2006

By submitting, you assert that your story is an original work by you, and you agree to have your completed story posted on the WWW for a period of at least 60 days accessible to visitors of the Trixie Belden Homepage. After that, you may remove your story if you wish. I can remove a story or link at any time for any reason.

If you decide to contribute a story in installments, you must agree that when (if ever) there is an ending posted anywhere on the Internet, it will be available to the Trixie Belden Homepage for a period of at least 60 days and will still conform to the guidelines. If you can't make this commitment, then don't bother submitting to the Trixie Belden Homepage.  It's only fair that readers at this website get resolution.  Thank you.

*I must emphasize the need for you or someone else to proofread your story before submitting. I will not be able to do so before posting.*  Please see this example of proper formatting.

A few things to know before submitting fan fiction:

1. The story and the treatment of the characters must be true to the spirit of the original books. What does this mean? The Bob-Whites are a generous and respectful group who care a lot about each other, their families, and their community. They may argue and have misunderstandings, but that can never break the underlying bond that exists between them.

2. Mild profanity is acceptable in stories about the Bob-Whites as adults if the expletives are used sparingly (none of the deadening overkill common nowadays) and used with purpose. Mild means only "damn" and "hell". It does not mean words such as f*** or referring to a woman as a b****. Use the existing posted stories as your guide when writing. If you have any questions, e-mail me.

3. Regarding sex in stories: Sex should be limited and is best done with a closed door policy. Remember when Rhett carried Scarlett up the staircase in the film version of GWTW? We didn't see what happened inside the bedroom and it didn't matter. Implication of sex, rather than depiction, is what I'm talking about.

Think of your story as a movie, whatever you write is shown in pictures. Now that you see your story in pictures, ask yourself if it is really acceptable for some of our younger visitors. Keep the ages of your characters in mind as well. If you need further explanation, e-mail me.

4. Short stories should ideally be about 2000-6000 words, give or take a few. Longer stories ideally would be between 6,000-15,000 words. It would be ideal if the story was submitted in completed form. Ideal is the key word in the above. I may be flexible in certain cases regarding length and completion.

5. Please remember to run a spell check before submitting.
