The Beldens and the Bob-Whites #1
By Caroline
Stables, Friday, 7:00 Pm
14-year-old Trixie Belden walked toward the stables. The blond, curly-haired tomboy was just about to open the stable doors when she heard Jim Frayne calling her."Hey Trix! Out for an evening ride?" Jim was sixteen. Some time ago Trixie had helped him escape from his evil stepfather, Jonesy. Jim had later been adopted by Matthew and Madeleine Wheeler.
"Mind if I join you?" Jim asked now standing right next to Trixie.
"Not at all, Jim. Let's just hope we don't run into Mart. I don't think I can handle talking to the walking dictionary right now!"
Mart was Trixie's older brother by eleven months who shared the same curly hair when he didn't have it all chopped off. Mart was definitely by definition a human dictionary. Trixie was almost positive he wasn't capable of having an everyday conversation without using at least two words that weren't understandable to average humans. His passion for big words and for food could never live up to his undying passion towards Trixie's friend Diana Lynch, however.
Fourteen-year-old Diana was the school beauty. Standing next to Diana and her violet eyes and black hair, Trixie probably looked as good as a mud puddle.
"I don't think you'll have to worry! He was talking to Diana!" Jim grinned. Jim headed toward Starlight's stall and took her out and handed the reins to Trixie. "Why don't you take Starlight? He hasn't been ridden yet today," Jim suggested.
"Okay, hurry up and get Jupiter before he breaks out of that stall!" Trixie said.
Jim and Trixie mounted their horses and rode to Ten Acres and back. After they finished tacking the horses, Jim asked if she wanted to take a walk.
"Sure, Jim, I'd love to!" Trixie answered.
They walked silently down to the lake. When they got to the dock sat down at the edge of it and Trixie sat next to him.
This is it, Frayne. It's now or never!" Jim thought. "Trix, I've got to tell you something," he said very seriously.
"What is it Jim?" Trixie asked.
"Trixie ever since I met you that day at my uncle's mansion seeing you even talking to Dan let alone next to someone like Nick Roberts has just killed me. You know the thought of you dating one of them makes me want to rip their heads off. I know we don't have a real relationship. We're only special friends I'd like to go farther than that, Trix, will you be my girlfriend?" Jim asked tensely.
"Jim, nothing would make me happier!" Trixie cried out. Jim put his arm around her. "Oh My God! He's going to kiss me!" She thought. Jim leaned over and kissed her softly. "Yes! This is the best night of my life! I can't wait to tell Honey and Di but for know I'll give them a little time to work their own boys into their lives!"
At the Manor HouseBrian Belden, seventeen, tall, dark, and handsome like his father, and fourteen-year-old Honey Wheeler were looking at pictures.
"This one's my favorite. It's one of the only ones that's just of me and you," Brian said, handing the picture of the two to Honey.
"Oh! Regan took this one when we were riding when Ben was here and Trixie was pretending to be dazzled by him, didn't he?" Honey asked.
"Yeah, she wasn't very convincing, though. Like she could fall for anyone but Jim? Yeah right!" Brian said.
"If I remember, Mart was the one who didn't believe her!" Honey teased.
"Honey, are your parents home?" Brian asked.
"No, they're in California. In fact, none of the adults is home right now!" Honey said.
"Honey, would you like to go see a movie sometime, just the two of us?" Brian asked her.
"Sure, Brian!" Honey yelled not realizing how loud she was.
"Good," Brian mumbled as he leaned in toward Honey.
Honey leaned her head in hoping he was about to do what she thought he was. He leaned in even closer and kissed her. A huge smile widened onto Honey face. "Wait until Trixie and Di hear about sweet, innocent little Honey getting her man first! Di will just kill Mart!" Honey thought evilly.
The Bob-White ClubhouseDan, Hallie, Mart, and Di were all sitting around chatting when suddenly Hallie Belden jumped up.
"Well, it's about time I get going! Dan, would you mind walking me home?" asked Hallie Belden, who looked a lot like a girl version of Brian, but with a completely opposite personality.
"Not at all, Hallie!" fifteen-year-old Dan eagerly agreed. He smoothed his jet black hair and flashed a sharp smile. "Bye Mart! See you, Di!" He followed Hallie out.
"You want to play spies, Di?" Mart asked with a grin.
"You read my mind!" Di replied heading for the window.
Outside
"I hope you knew why I asked you to walk me home," Hallie said, grinning.
"I was hoping you that was what you meant by this walk," Dan said grinning back at her. "Although we're only a few feet away from the clubhouse, so it doesn't really count as walk."
"Well, when I was here last time you struck me as different from the rest of the Bob-Whites," Hallie said, coming closer to Dan. "A good different. I was kind of hoping we'd have some time alone then, but now will do, too."
"Hallie, I don't think I could handle a long distance especially with someone as beautiful as you! I'm sure the boys are all over you at school and why would you want to be in a distant relationship when you could be in a very close one?" Dan asked.
"Well, Dan, because it would be a very close one!" Hallie grinned.
"What do you mean?" Dan asked suspiciously.
"I'm moving to Sleepyside!" she exclaimed.
"Yes!" Dan yelled, picking her up and kissing her. "Maybe I can talk the Bob-Whites into adding an eighth member."
At the window
"Dan has the right idea!" Mart said with a grin.
"What right idea?" Di asked.
"This right idea." Mart mumbled, leaning down and kissing her.
The End (for now)
