This is part of my main universe and a sequel to Letting Go
Ill Be Home for Christmas
By Steph
Trixie Belden settled into her seat on her Chicago to New York flight in complete contentment.
She was finally going home after three months at Northwestern University for her freshman year.
She missed all her friends and family back home and couldnt wait to see them.
As the flight sped eastward she thought about everyone back home.
She had sent many letters and had received many but it wasnt the same as actually seeing everyones faces.
She knew that everyone was happy in school among the Bob-Whites and that everything was going very well at home.
She loved all her school friends but this was different. These were the people she loved most in the whole world.
She loved Evanston and nearby Chicago but this was Sleepyside the town she had grown up and thought she would probably settle in someday.
Finally, the plane landed. She ran into her parents waiting arms as they were all talking at once.
Mr. and Mrs. Belden saw that their beautiful daughter was more beautiful than ever and had more poise and self confidence than she had ever had.
Mr. Belden said "Your brothers or your friends would have come but theyre all back at the farm getting your welcome home party ready. Everyone is there waiting to see you and cant wait!"
Trixie said "I cant wait either!"
They got her bags and headed to the parking lot where she found a surprise from her parents. They had arranged to use the old Bob-White station wagon for the trip for old times sake.
Trixie climbed in and they turned on the radio and she couldnt help but sing along to the song because she felt so happy.
Ill be Home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents round the treeChristmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
Ill be Home for Christmas
If only in my dreamsAs they drove through Sleepyside, Mr. Belden took an indirect route so they would drive past all the old places she loved.
They passed Wimpy's and Trixie said that there was plans for her and all the other Bob-Whites to eat dinner there the next night.
They passed the police station where Trixie thought of Sergeant Molinson who was now Westchester County sheriff, and Spider Webster who became Chief of Police in Sleepyside after returning home.
They passed the Junior-Senior High School; a building which had both good and bad memories, but mostly good.
As they got closer they passed Mr. Lytells store and while they had had their differences she was glad to see the sign "Closed for the day" knowing it was because he would be at the party.
They passed the Lynch mansion and then Manor House and even took a detour past the clubhouse but she was getting more and more anxious to see her home.
Finally they pulled up in front of the farmhouse and as Trixie walked in and was surrounded by her friends and family and hugged to pieces she knew she was where she belonged and she had the greatest gift she would receive that year.
She was home.
