My Heart Will Go On
By Hilary
Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you. That is how I know you go on.
“Jim! Jim! Wake up Jim!” 84-year-old Trixie Frayne cried out at her sleeping husband. 86-year-old Jim Frayne didn’t stir. Trixie and Jim had been happily married for 60 years.
“Jim, you have to wake up!” Trixie cried again. She rolled him over and fell back in shock. It was then she realised that, yes, her beloved Jim was dead.
Far across the distance and spaces between us, you have come to show you go on.
“Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” she screamed, then let the sobs take over her. She rested her head on Jim’s chest and continued to cry. It was in this same position that Sydni, Trixie and Jim’s 24-year-old granddaughter, found them the very next day.
Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the heart does go on
“We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of James Winthrop Frayne the second,” the minister said.
Trixie cried at the mention of Jim’s name.
Once more you open the door, and you’re here in my heart, and my heart will go on and on.
“James was an extremely kind and caring man and was dearly loved by all who knew him,” The minister continued.
Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime, and never let go till we’re one
“He will most certainly be sadly missed; his wife Beatrix has a few words that she would like to say” The minister stepped away from the microphone to allow Trixie to speak.
Love was when I loved you, one true time I’d hold to, in my life we’ll always go on
“First, I would like to thank you all for coming here today,” Trixie said, her voice shaking with every word, “I loved Jim with all my heart and I will miss him more everyday. For those of you who have known Jim for many years will know the sort of person he was. He was truly an irreplaceable man. He had a tough appearance but had a heart of gold.”
Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the heart does go on
“I will never forget the day that Jim asked me to marry him, for it was the happiest day of my life. All my happiest memories have Jim in them and so do all the sad ones. When my mother and father died tragically in a car accident, it was Jim that helped me through it. Now, I’ll have to help our children and grandchildren get over his death.” Trixie let the tears fall freely again.
Once more you open the door and you’re here in my heart and, my heart will go on and on
“Thank you for coming today and for all your support.” Trixie walked away from the microphone and into Brian’s arms. He held her as she cried.
You’re here, there’s nothing I fear
“Hello, let us begin the reading of James Winthrop Frayne II’s will,” the lawyer said. He unfolded the small piece of paper. “To my son Benjamin, I leave my clothes and shoes as he liked them so much; to my grandchildren, I leave my school. To my beloved wife Trixie, I leave everything else I ever owned.”
And I know that my heart will go on.
Trixie walked slowly down the garden path to the back of the house where Jim’s grave was. She bent down and placed eighty-six roses there.
We’ll stay forever this way
“I will love you forever, Jim,” Trixie whispered. She lay down on the grass next to Jim’s grave and fell asleep, never to be awoken again.
You are safe in my heart and my heart will go on and on.
