From This Moment On
I do swear that I’ll always be there. I’d give anything and everything and I will always care.
It was the 1st of June, Monday afternoon and everyone was gathered in the Belden’s garden for the wedding.
Mrs Belden and Mrs Wheeler were sitting in the front pew, tears were already in their eyes and the wedding had only just begun. Honey, Di, Hallie, and Juliana were the bridesmaids, and Brian, Mart, Dan, and Hans were the groomsmen with Brian being best man. It was the long awaited day of Trixie and Jim’s wedding. Everyone they had ever helped was there. Uncle Andrew, Grandpa Crimper with his wife Mrs. Crimper and their son Mr. Crimper, Mr Maypenny, The Morgans, Ben, Mr. Carver, they were all there.
Trixie and Jim had decided against the idea of a church wedding and chose a beautiful garden wedding instead. The Beldens' backyard was decorated beautifully. Mrs Belden’s roses were in full bloom so the minister with Trixie and Jim would stand just in front of the roses.
Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow, for better, for worse, I will love you with every beat of my heart.
“I’m so nervous,” Trixie said as she slipped into her wedding dress. She wasn’t wearing her mother's wedding dress because she was too tall for it. Her wedding dress was floor-length and made out of the finest silk. It was strapless with sequins covering the bodice. The dress was tight-fitting and showed of her curves. Her train was 2 metres long. Her long hair was put up on top of her head in an elegant style and held in place by a diamond clip. She wore a diamond tiara. Her veil was connected to a clip in her hair. She had a light-coloured lip gloss on and flesh coloured eye shadow and blush.
Finally, she was ready. She waited nervously with her father inside the backdoor of Crabapple Farm. The Wedding March sounded and Trixie and her father knew it was time. Together they set off down the aisle. At the sight of her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Mrs Wheeler burst into tears. Jim turned and looked at Trixie. The very sight of her made him glow inside and out. When Mr Belden handed Jim Trixie’s hand he whispered, “Look after her, Jim, she’s the best thing that will ever happen to you.” Mr Belden let go of Trixie’s hands and went to sit with his wife.
From this moment life has begun, from this moment you are the one
“We are gathered here today in holy matrimony to celebrate the love of Beatrix and James,” the minister said.
Right beside you is where I belong, from this moment on
“Do you, Beatrix, take this man, James Winthrop Frayne II, to be your lawful wedded husband? To love and to hold, to cherish and to honour, till death do you part?” the minister asked.
“I do,” Trixie replied happily.
From this moment I have been blessed, I live only for your happiness
“And do you, James, take this woman, Beatrix Elizabeth Belden, to be your lawful wedded wife. To love and to hold, to cherish and to honour, till death do you part?” the minister asked Jim.
“I do,” Jim replied happily.
“The couple have their own vows that they would like to share,” the minister announced.
Jim went first, “My beloved Trixie, from the first time that I laid eyes upon you all those years ago when you stormed in on me, I knew that I had found my soul mate. All those times when you got kidnapped I felt as though I might lose you forever. I love you with all my heart and I always will.” With that he slipped the golden band around Trixie’s long beautiful finger.
And for your love I’d give my last breath, from this moment on
“My beloved Jim, from the first time I saw you, I knew that you were the one that I would spend the rest of my life with. All those times when I had nearly died, I thought of how much you meant to me and that was what kept me going. My love for you could light up the world a thousand times. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you. I love you with all my heart and always will,” Trixie said. She carefully slipped the golden band around his finger.
I give my hand to you with all my heart, Can’t wait to live my life with you I can’t wait to start
“If there is anyone here who can see any reason why these two may not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace,” the minister said. Everyone went quiet, each looking around to see if anyone was going to stand up and protest. No one did.
“Then without further ado, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the beautiful bride,” finished the minister.
Jim lifted the veil over Trixie’s head, took her face in his hands, and they shared their first kiss as man and wife.
You and I will never be apart, my dreams came true because of you.
Jim took Trixie’s hand and proudly led her back down the aisle. Everyone threw rice over their heads as they walked down past them. At the end of the aisle they turned and said, “Thank you”, and then continued their way down the path to where the photographer was waiting.
From this moment as long as I live I will love you, I promise you this
They waited patiently while their photos were being taken. Finally it was time for the reception. Trixie and Jim stood side by side to receive the gifts from each guest. With each gift they said their thanks and invited them to stay for the toast. Every guest stayed.
There is nothing I wouldn’t give, from this moment on
“I propose a toast,” Mr Belden said. He stood up and raised his glass. “To Trixie and Jim, may they find out that love is the greatest gift of them all!”
“To Trixie and Jim!” everyone echoed.
Trixie stood up and walked over to where a microphone had been set up and said, “Jim, this is for you.”
“You’re the reason I believe in love, and you’re the answer to my prayers from up above, all we need is just the two of us, my dreams came true because of you. From this moment, as long as I live, I will love you, I promise you this, There is nothing I wouldn’t give from this moment,” she sang, her reaching every note perfectly.
She walked back to the table and she and Jim shared their first dance as a married couple.
I will love you as long as I live, from this moment on
They partied and danced long into the night.
The End
Authors notes:
These characters are used without permission. The title is from the song “From this moment on” by Shania Twain. The words are also from this song. Trixie’s wedding dress is my own creation. I can only assume that this is how a wedding is supposed to go as I am not married. If I have in any way copied someone else’s story that is entirely unintentional and is just a coincidence.
