You are Beautiful to Me

By  Hilary

19-year-old Trixie Belden stared critically into the mirror. Her freckles had all faded, her once blue eyes were now a lovely hazel-green. Thanks to a major growth spurt she was now 5ft 9, her once short sandy blonde curls were now long wavy and blonde. She had slimmed down and was one of the most attractive girls at college, yet she still was not entirely happy. She turned away from the mirror and walked down the stairs into the kitchen.

“Good morning, Trixie,” Moms called from the kitchen sink.

“Morning ,Moms!” Trixie called back as she took her place at the dining table.

The morning flew by as Trixie studied for her end of year exam.

Finally, after hours of solid studying, Trixie was permitted to go for a walk. She hurried out the front door and ran up the familiar path to Manor House. When she reached the stables, she realised that she was not the only one who thought of having an afternoon ride.

“Ahem,” Trixie said.

The tall redhead combing Jupiter swirled around.

“Hey Trix! I didn’t hear you come in,” Jim said.

“I sort of snuck up,” Trixie admitted.

“Would you like to join me?” Jim asked, fidgeting with Jupiter’s brush. “We could have a picnic in the preserve.”

“I’d love to!” Trixie replied happily.

“Great! I’ll go up and organise the food if you can get the horses ready,” Jim offered.

“Okay, I’ll meet you here in five minutes,” Trixie replied. As Jim turned and walked towards Manor House, Trixie felt as though she could just melt.

Five minutes later, Trixie and Jim were riding through the preserve.

“This looks like a good spot,” Trixie commented as they reined in their horses and dis-mounted. They tied the horses up to a near-by tree. They spread out the blanket and sat down.

Through the gap in the trees they could see Sleepyside Hollow.

They sat the basket at their feet and looked out over Sleepyside Hollow.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Trixie asked.

“Yeah, yeah you are,” Jim commented.

Trixie turned to face him. “W…What did y…you j…just say?” Trixie stuttered in a state of shock.

“I…I said that you are beautiful,” Jim managed.

Their eyes locked and his head leaned in closer to hers. Slowly their lips met in a soft kiss. They pulled away and looked at each other. Trixie searched his eyes for the reason of the kiss.

“Jim…” Trixie started.

“Shhhh!” Jim said. He leaned in again and captured her lips once more. Their kiss was soft at first then Trixie deepened the kiss, surprising not only Jim but herself as well. She slipped her arms around his neck and he put his arms around her waist and pulled her in closer. Finally, they pulled apart in need of air.

“Will you go out with me?” Jim blurted as soon as he had caught his breath.

“Yes! I’d love to go out with you!” Trixie squealed with excitement. She lunged at him catching his lips for another kiss. They were finally interrupted when they heard one of the horse’s whinny. Trixie looked up and noticed that Susie was missing.

“Jim! Susie’s gone!” Trixie screamed.

“What!” Jim yelled. They sat in silence just staring at the spot where Susie had been standing only five minutes earlier. Jim got up and ran over to Jupiter.

“Climb on!” Jim called as Trixie came running over to the horse. Jim hoisted Trixie up so she sat in front of him. They both enjoyed sitting close together. They rode through the preserve looking everywhere for a sign of where the little mare could be.

Suddenly, Trixie yelled, “Quick, over there!” She pointed to a large bush.

Jupiter ran around to the other side of the bush. There was Susie. She was puffed. Trixie quickly dismounted and ran to the little mare. She grabbed the reins and walked her over to Jim. After a quick check up, Susie was given the all clear. Trixie mounted the horse and they rode back to the picnic.

“I think we’d better get back,” Trixie said.

“Yeah,” Jim agreed.

Together they packed up the picnic and rode back to the stables.

A month later

Trixie woke with a start. She took her time getting dressed and chose a gorgeous sun dress that not only showed off he tan, but her figure as well. She hurried through breakfast and went to sit on the front porch. A few minutes later a car pulled into the driveway. Jim got out and leant against the car. Trixie got up and ran at him. She threw her arms around him in a big hug.

“I missed you so much!” she said in between kisses.

“I missed you, too,” Jim said. They separated and got into the car.

Jim pulled the car into a hotel.

“Wow!’ Trixie said in awe. “When you said a holiday, I didn’t think you meant this fancy!”

“Anything for my baby,” Jim replied. He parked the car and they got out. Holding hands they walked into the hotel. The hotel receptionist noticed how very much in love they were.

“You make a lovely couple!” she commented as they booked in.

“Thank you,” they replied at the same time. They walked up to their room and went out on to the private balcony.

“It’s beautiful!” Trixie commented as the sunset that was before them.

“Yes, you are beautiful!” Jim replied.

“Jim!” Trixie said.

“What? You are beautiful to me! Even more beautiful than this sunset!” Jim exclaimed.

Trixie turned in his arms so that she faced him.

“I love you,” she said.

“I love you, too,” Jim replied.

Their lips met in a very loving kiss. They then turned and watched the sun go down, content at holding each other, forever…..
